Remember how disappointed I was in the Jujube candies? Well, my sister found some better jujubes - the jujube is also the name of a fruit, also known as the red date or Chinese date.While I have yet to see them anywhere in Northeast Ohio, my sister finds them at farmer's markets in the Bay Area. The jujube is like an apple in appearance and in taste, but with a hard stone in the middle.
It is native to China, but the jujube fruit tree can apparently grow easily in a variety of climates, and are cold-hardy ... which means I'm now plotting to plant my own jujube tree in the backyard, just to say I am growing Jujubes in Ohio.
